Mika M. Hilaire is a Partner at Hilaire McGriff PC. She practices in all areas of employment law and litigation, including handling claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, failure to provide reasonable accommodations, breach of employment contracts, invasion of privacy and wage and hour claims. Mika also has experience in litigating large and complex class actions. Mika represents clients in both state and federal court and before governmental agencies.
Mika also has substantial experience advising and counseling clients on a broad range of employment-related issues, such as navigating both state and federal leave laws, accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, wage and hour laws, discrimination and harassment issues, and various personnel actions. She conducts workplace investigations and frequently provides training on preventing sexual harassment and discrimination.
Mika has been named by the Los Angeles Magazine to the list of Southern California Super Lawyers – Rising Stars since 2007, an honor bestowed on only 2.5% of the lawyers in Southern California, for her representation of clients in employment law.
Mika earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley, with a major from the nationally recognized Rhetoric Department. While at Berkeley, Mika was a member of the Women’s Track and Field and Basketball teams. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Prior to forming Hilaire McGriff PC, Mika was a partner and Chair of the Employment Law Group at Freedman Weisz. Prior to her partnership at Freedman Weisz, Mika was the founding partner of the employment law boutique firm Appell | Hilaire | Benardo LLP in Sherman Oaks.
